We have noted a number of new membership applications are being received from folk who are in serious trouble with their employer – they could and should have joined when they started their employment. Non-members usually say that the unions do nothing for them and are often the first to criticise us – until they need us.
UNISON members fought hard for the Terms and Conditions we have today but these are now under serious threat. Please emphasise the good work UNISON is doing and encourage your colleagues to Join UNISON.

•2014/15 Local Government Pay; The imposed 2 year pay award which UNISON rejected was discussed at the Regional Local Government meeting further consideration will be given to UNISON’s response and reported to Branches.

• Over 1500 items of email correspondence and also around 10/12 general telephone enquiries each day. Includes ongoing dismissal appeals, 3x Employment Tribunal requests to Scottish Region; Numerous Fair Treatment at Work issues and Health & Safety concerns including Personal Injury claims.
