Our Young Members Officer, Sean,  and Assistant Branch Secretary, J’an, have recently attended the Youth Beatz Festival in Dumfries. They did this to engage with young people with regards to their rights in the workplace and to promote the Unison Scotland’s Young Members Committee’s Bullying Advice Guide. The event was a wonderful day for Dumfries and Galloway and our representatives engaged with a number of people throughout the day.

The event also saw the branch engage with a number of Dumfries and Galloway Elected members and a Local MSP. There was also engagement with other local organisations which share our Union’s belief in equality such as LGBT Youth Dumfries and Galloway and DG Voice.

Our branch is committed to educating young people regarding their rights, promoting the work we do both as a branch and a Trade Union.

Together, we made it the most successful recruitment month ever

More people joined UNISON in November – or Grovember as we've been calling it – than in any single month in the union’s 25 year history.

More than 18,000 people joined the UK’s biggest union during our a month-long recruitment and retention drive that saw the whole union – at branch, regional and national level – working together.
