UPDATE FROM NATIONAL DELEGATE CONFERENCE

Wednesday 15th June Conference Summary
After procedural announcements, Conference began with Rachel Shepherd, Chair of the Standing Orders Committee, presenting the Standing Orders Report.
Report contained over 30 emergency motions – whether they would all be admitted at the appropriate point of Conference time would tell.
Comrades from different branches throughout the UK enquired as to why motions had been referenced back this was addressed by Rachel Shepherd.
Debates took place throughout the day.
Campaigning for National Care Services motion moved by Helen Davis, Greater London on behalf of the NEC.
Tony Slaven, Scottish Regional Representative, moved amendment 58.1. After debate theĀ  motion was carried as amended.
The result of Tuesday’s motion “Not in my Name” was declared as follows,
For – 655,809
Against – 389,160
Majority- 266,649
The motion was clearly carried.
Stephen Smellie moved Post COP26. Decarbonising UK Public Services on behalf of NEC followed by Lillian Macer moving an amendment to the motion which after good debate was carried.

Next Maz Cotterill from National LGBT+ Committee moved Trans Equality – Louder and Prouder, which was also debated at the Local Government Conference, the motion was fully supported and carried.
