This briefing for UNISON local government branches provides action points to help make sure that The Promise is kept within core frontline social work services.

UNISON’s children and families social work members fully support The Promise – the plan for reforming the care system for children set out by the Independent Care Review. However they are clear that without proper funding it will not be possible to deliver it within statutory social work.

Keeping the Promise the new report from UNISON Social Work Issues Group – based on a survey of social work members – says that to implement The Promise in the way that children and young people have asked for, we need:
